Shell stitch in Klimt

If you like this shell stitch swatch crocheted with our Klimt yarn, you can crochet it too, just follow the instructions below.

Please, note that the instructions are given using US crochet terms. For UK crocheters, just remember that the US single crochet stitch is the UK double crochet stitch and that the US double crochet stitch is the UK treble stitch. (See this chart for more information).

Instructions are given to work the stitch in rows, not rounds.

For the start and the first row of your swatch, I recommend using an hook of a size bigger respect to the one you shall use for the rest of our swatch.

Shell stitch: in the same single crochet work: (1 double crochet, 1 chain stitch) 2 times, 1 double crochet.

Start: with smaller hook, work a multiple of 4+2 chain stitches. Turn.
1st row: skip the last chain stitch you made and work 1 single crochet in each chain st. Turn.
2nd row: with bigger hook, 1 chain st, 1 single crochet in same st [skip 1 single crochet, 1 shell stitch in next single crochet, skip 1 single crochet, 1 single crochet in next single crochet]; repeat from [ to ] till the end of the row. Turn.
3rd row: chain 3, 1 double crochet in same st, [1 single crochet in the central double crochet of the next shell stitch, 1 shell stitch in the next single crochet], 1 single crochet in the last shell stitch of the previous row, chain 1, 1 double crochet in the last single crochet. Turn.

Repeat rows 2 and 3 for pattern.
