Aranami Shawl

At Lanecardate HandKnitting we take great pride in our lofty, warm yarns made with all 100% natural, ethically sourced animal fibers. This means that most of your yarns are warm or even hot, perfect for the coldest winter days. But at least one of your yarns is also perfect for summer. We are not talking cool cotton or linen, we are talking the thinnest of our yarns: the extremely lightweight Lace, which has the same composition as our Lamora (75% superfine wool, 25% angora) just in a much thinner yarn.

Lace was specifically created with lace projects in mind – ethereal and extremely sophisticated. Yet, its four hues can also be applied to much more linear and modern-looking items, like this stunning Aranami Shawl created by Olga Buraya-Kefelian. “Aranami” in Japanese means “stormy seas, raging waves”, and the unique short-rowed sections of the shawl remind of a winter ocean with foamy raging waves on the surface. The original design required 5 hanks of a different yarn, one in each of the five colors required. Five hanks of the original yarn yielded two whole shawls (inverting the color sequence), with our lovely Lace you may create the shawl with only 4 hanks, one in each color, making sure to distribute the colors in a different pattern.

Aranami’s pattern is available through Ravelry and costs 7 dollars!
